Today is our 4th wedding anniversary (altho we've been together for 14 years now)! Because he let me buy some PTI goodies for my birthday a few weeks ago, and I went a little over my budget, I told him all I wanted was a card. =) After "teaching" him about not wasting my precious PTI papers, using the blocks and stamps, using the dies with the big shot, I was kicked out of the room for him to create. Two and a half hours later, this is the fruit of his labor of love. Can I just tell you how much I love this man?! Happy Anniversary BUBBA!

Woo, this one was a difficult one for me! That's what I'm soooo late! I had absolutely no mojo!

I used limitless layers to make the lion and since I didn't have any other ideas for eyes, I stitched them in. This was especially difficult, since I have NO..NONE..NADDA skills with a needle and embroidery thread! LOL.

It's a super simple card, and I didn't have any St. Patrick's sentiments, so I just didn't add one at all! I don't know if that's cheating, but oh well. Can I just say, I love love love this Anya stamp? She's so fun to color!

Welcome to the Papertrey Paper Dolls first Blog Hop! Woo HOO! Since we are all OBSESSED with PTI products, the challenge was to use items that begin with P-T-I. What an interesting and brain busting challenge!

Before I get to my take on the card, we were asked share a little bit about ourselves. So, without delving into the realm of identity theft, here’s a little bit about me. I’m from Hawaii and lived here most of my life (was born in WA and went to college in CO!). By day, I’m an 8^th grade English teacher, and there is NO JOB I’d rather do than that. Well, except maybe a makeup artist. =) I’m currently on “house arrest” because of a high risk pregnancy. It gets a little boring being at home all day alone, but I try to keep in mind that it’s for the best of reasons!

As for PTI…I’ve only been hooked for about a year. And I blame DEENA. She and I teach together and we live about 5 minutes apart, and it’s all her fault that I got into PTI. It all started with the cardstock. Once you go PTI…it’s so thick and the colors are so yummy. If I had to pick ONE fave color, it would have to be RazzFizz, but Hibiscus Burst is a close second.

PTI Color Challenge

First of all, let me start by saying I LOVE COLOR! I try to match my MAC eyeshadow with my clothing everyday. LOL. Seriously. So, this challenge was kind of exciting for me! I decided to go with colors that I would not ordinarily use. I like more springy, bright, bold...so using this:

It took me 2 hours to make this card. I spent about a half hour staring at the color download trying to decide which one I wanted to use, taking out paper and seeing them together. Then another half hour deciding what I was going to do with it. I love the internet. I mozied on over to Mojo Mondays and found a layout. Then deciding on a stamp...geesh. So..here it is. Now I'm gonna watch my DVR'd shows and relax. =)

Ted's Happily Ever Challenged #14

I'm pretty much a forum lurker. I admit it. lol. Most times I don't have much to say...but since being home these last three weeks, I've been reading the PTI forums A LOT and taking a look at A LOT of blogs. One challenge from a member caught my eye. Ted challenged crafters to create a card which used your own handwriting. I'm not particularly fond of my handwriting, but I love doodling and "fonting" around. LOL! I had in mind a card I wanted to make for my hubby, but didn't have a train stamp, so I drew it! Don't laugh, I know I'm not the best drawer!! But, I did have fun making it. Bonus points if you can tell me where the card inspiration came from. I think it's one of the longest running "sitcoms" and my hubby and I were avid watchers.

Anyhoo, I had fun making these. I must say, there is no comparison between regular generic felt and PTI felt. PTI felt is so crisp and clean. The generic felt...well...it sucks. LOL. I tried to cut flowers in orange, and while they came out okay, up close the felt is yucky. Oh, and I used the PTI Beautiful Blooms II dies and a sakura (cherry blossom) die from QuicKutz.

With my cousin's baby due any day now, a friend due in Feb/March, and me due in June, I'm having tons of fun with onesies!

Sorry I've been absent for so so long. With the ending of the semester, a conference in Texas, and a bun in the oven, I haven't been had the time and energy to craft at all (except for teacher gifties and a few family gifites which I'll post later).

Okie, I apologize for being MIA. The past few weeks have been mentally difficult. I won't get into it here. =)

Last weekend, we did a major cleaning of my grandma's house. Along with these post-its, I scored a brand new laminator and crockpot. My aunty is planning on selling some of the things to make money for her friend who has cancer. I told her I'd take the post-its, make something, and give them back to her to sell. The theme for this card swap was "birthday" for any age group or gender. I decided to make a kids' card using The Greeting Farm "Wild Things" stamps. Aren't they adorable?! Realizing that I had to color and cut 40 images was NOT SO ADORABLE! LOL. On the inside, the monkey swings. On one side is the monkey and on the flip side of the circle it says, "You look like a monkey." I don't know how happy I am with this card yet...I got kind of lazy after coloring and cutting those images! LOL.

PPD Challenge #2

Sooo, this past week I collected 2 career research papers per student. And, since it's crunch time I promised myself that I would get it all graded this weekend. I had roughly 180 2-page papers to grade! On Friday, I spent about 5 good hours sitting in the mall grading those stinkin' papers. Why the mall? Well, that way I'd have no computer, no tv, no crafting things, no other distractions! I graded the AVID papers (40+ papers) and 2 classes worth of research papers. Then on Saturday, the hubby and I plopped ourselves at the Starbucks, and I finished one more class. Finally, I finished the last class today! WOOT! Saturday night, I finished the 8 swap cards that's due on Monday. I'll post that later. FINALLY I got to play around with this awesome PaperDolls sketch!

LOL.

Okay, so I know I've been a slacker! I have a card swap coming up next week and stupid me, I decide on coloring not one, but FIVE stamped images per card! That's a total of 45 stamped images (one to keep!)!!! What a bonehead. So, that's what I've been doing. I have carpel tunnel from cutting all the stinkin' images, too! I still don't really know what I'm going to do with it yet. I have an idea, but I'm not sure it'll come to fruition. I have to play around with it this weekend. So, wish me luck and lots of creativity! I'm going to need it!

Here's my take on the PaperDolls challenge! It's a "shaky-shaky" card, where the little butterflies and glass beads move around. For some reason, the yellow and pink butterflies are sticking together. Oh well, I had fun making it...and it's even more fun shaky-shaking it! LOL.

I am soo loving the Cheeky Cheery Collection from The Greeting Farm! I was having issues with the Glamour one, but I went in to my art teacher at school and asked for help. ;) Here's my first card using the Shooter one! I had so much fun with this one. I cased someone who used black rhinestones as bullets! SOOO cool.

I don't know about y'all but sometimes, when it comes to paper, I have such a hard time using my 'stash'! I finally sucked it up and took out PTI's enchanted evening. Love it!

About a month ago, we had a card swap at work. Some of our friends didn't want to play because they claimed that they "didn't know what to do." We all know how creative they can be. Here's the card they made for my birthday! HILARIOUS! And, they did follow the requirement of having an embellie!

As I was working on the other Geisha cards, my cousin came over to visit. She just returned from Japan and dropped by to bring us some omiyage (presents). One of her little gifties were cherry blossom postcards! HOW PERFECT is that? I had to use it in a card with the Geisha Anya!!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I got a whole bunch of The Greeting Farm stamps for my birthday. I kinda get completely engrossed in coloring these cuties! I figured I'd better start using them for something, so here's my first Geisha cards. I saw some fan embellies at Walmart, but they were expensive, so I improvised and made my own. LOL. I wanted to jazz it up the hair a little bit, so I strung silver and gold thread with little seed beads thru her bun.

I got some new Greeting Farm stamps for my birthday...(yes, i have wonderful friends who feed my addictions!) I was itching to ink them up and play with the coloring. As you can see, I had a reallly hard time with the 80's Anya hair! I'm not too sure about the Geisha color combo, but she's really fun to color. Now I just have to figure out how I want to use them.

Oh, and I can't wait for my new copics to come in! The waiting just kills me!

While the Hubby was meeting with his group at Hawaiki Towers, I sat in the lobby and crafted. Total time for two cards (which included, figuring out what I was going to do, deciding layout and color, coloring the stamps, cutting the paper, and actually PUTTING it together) was 2 1/2 hours! I didn't even realize how long I was sitting there. If I paid attention in math and learned how to measure twice and cut once, this would've gone waaaay faster! Lol. I'm still fairly new to this, so I'm hoping I'll learn to be more efficient. Can you tell what color was on my mind today?

Alright, so I have to admit, I do a lot of time wasting. This blog will be devoted to some of the things that tap into that creativity pool hidden deep down somewhere! =) I looooove teaching...BUT, if I weren't a teacher, I'd want to be a make-up artist, photographer, or own some kind of craft store (with lots of pens!).
